Jonna Kae Volz started acting and performing at a young age in Nashville, TN. While acting on the stage at the Nashville Children’s Theatre, and dancing at Nashville City Ballet, she also worked as a voice-over actor for the Benson Company and Meadowgreen Productions in a number of studio-recorded children’s musicals. AIM Talent agency signed her on at age 14 and the on-camera work began. Country music videos were her introduction to dramatic acting on-camera. She trained with award winning voice-over actor Norman Woodel and acting coach Eugene Glasgow, in addition to classes with top casting directors in Nashville and Atlanta. She is known for her work in Reba McEntire’s “Fancy", playing “Young Fancy” in the iconic video released in 1990. Jonna also co-starred with Carroll O’Connor and Claude Akins on the hit television series In The Heat Of The Night, and was directed by Sam Waterston in I’ll Fly Away. Jonna continued performing on stage and in high school competitions winning 1st in State in Nashville for Dramatic Interpretation. In 1991, she was accepted into the Governors School for the Arts held in Murfreesboro, TN for Theatre.


After moving to Orlando FL, she continued to compete in theatre with the Dr. Philips High School VPA Program, winning 1st Place and All Star Cast at SETC in Washington DC for her role as “Echo” in the one act play Eleemosynary. She worked closely with classmates Jennifer McGill, Tasha Danner, Mylin Brooks, (Mickey Mouse Cub), Joey Fatone (NSYNC), and Louis Fonsi (Latin Pop Star). After signing with Cassandra Bailey Talent Agency, Jonna booked speaking roles on popular Nickelodeon shows Clarissa Explains It All and Welcome Freshman, and worked in a number of commercials, including the Florida Film Festival trailer (1997) with director Daniel Myrick (Blair Witch Project). At age 18, she was invited to coach young actors in TV Pilots at Universal Studios in Orlando FL.


Jonna was accepted into the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, where she received professional training for Theatre Acting. After a long hiatus from school to raise her children, she returned to the acting scene at Missouri State University pursuing her BFA in Acting and BA in Film Production from 2006-2008. She is known for her lead roles in short films Apollo, Nothing Rhymes With Orange, Rounding Third, Signed Your 8th Ave Birdwatcher, and stage roles “Lorraine" in Lie of The Mind (2008), “Ruth” in Blithe Spirit (2008), and “Ariel” in The Tempest (2015).


During her 5 years in Los Angeles, Jonna Volz worked on a number of television and film sets. She worked 2 seasons with Portia de Rossi and Jay Harrington in Better Off Ted, was directed by Charles S. Carroll in Criminal Minds and had the pleasure of working with Gene Simmons on Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Now that Jonna is back in Springfield, she stays busy acting in local commercials, voice-overs, and independent films. She has a passion for the art of acting and decided to share what she has learned in her class Acting For Real in Downtown Springfield. Children and adults can sharpen their skills with coaching by Jonna Kae Volz, in classes focused on technique for film, television, and commercial acting.
